Privacy Policy
In short: Keptly stores the notifications you choose only on your own phone. It has no internet permission, so it cannot send your data anywhere. We don't collect, see, sell or share any of it.
Who we are
Keptly is developed by Magali Boada ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the Keptly Android app accesses and how that information is handled.
What Keptly accesses
Keptly works only after you turn on Android's notification access for it and start capture. It then reads new notifications from the apps you choose to track and saves:
- the app's name and package name;
- the notification title and text, including message text that apps show in notifications;
- when the notification was posted and when Keptly saved it;
- images and audio files attached to a notification, if the sending app makes them readable and you leave media saving on.
Notifications can contain personal information, including messages from other people. Keptly saves only what Android shows in the notification. It cannot read content that apps or Android hide, and it cannot recover notifications from before capture was turned on.
Where it is stored
Everything Keptly saves stays in the app's private storage on your device. Keptly:
- does not request the internet permission and cannot transmit data off your device;
- has no account, sign-in or cloud sync;
- contains no advertising, analytics, tracking or crash-reporting services, and no third-party SDKs;
- excludes its data from Android backups and device-to-device transfers.
Because nothing leaves your device, we (the developer) never receive or have access to your notifications or any other data from the app.
Sharing
We do not share, sell or transfer any data, because we never have it. Information only leaves Keptly if you choose to, for example by tapping Copy to put a notification's text on your clipboard.
How long data is kept
- Notifications are deleted automatically 2 days after they are saved, unless you mark them as Kept. You can turn automatic deletion off in Settings.
- Images and audio are temporary and are deleted 24 hours after they are first saved, unless the notification is kept. Temporary media is limited to 50 MB and may be removed sooner to save space.
- You can delete a single notification, all cached media, or your entire history at any time in the app.
- Uninstalling Keptly permanently deletes all of its data from your device.
Permissions
- Notification access: to read and save notifications from the apps you track. You can revoke it at any time in Android settings.
- Run at startup: so cleanup of expired notifications and media keeps working after your phone restarts.
- App list visibility: to show installed apps when you choose which apps to track. This list is never stored outside your device.
Security
Keptly relies on Android's app sandbox and your device's storage protection. Its database is not separately encrypted, so anyone who can unlock and use your phone may be able to open the app. Use a screen lock to protect your data.
Children
Keptly is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date. If a future version of Keptly handles data differently, we will describe the change here before it takes effect.
